Amy Burns – Staff Spotlight

Amy rejoined our firm in 2018 after a ten year career with a local mechanical contractor. She just couldn’t stay away from the amazing staff here at Baker Holtz and the constantly changing world of tax! This month on our latest Staff Spotlight we introduce the adventurous associate, Amy Burns.

When it comes to the recently computerized realm of tax and accounting, we too have shifted to a largely paperless office, with the exception of Amy! Amy is known around the office for her consistently overcrowded desk and the never-dwindling piles of paper. She says, there is just something different about being able to write your notes on the corner and make it your own. (Me too, Amy!)

With six grandchildren and five children combined with her husband, one of Amy’s passions in life is her family! Although her family may be large, they all try to make sure they connect with one another on a weekly basis, which is not an easy feat! But they always find a way to touch base. Growing up in a large family herself, Amy says that in her mind; family has always been number one!

Accounting and tax must have been a trait that was distilled in Amy at a very young age, for she never switched up careers while she was growing up. From her very first accounting class in high school she felt the pull for where she should be! She enjoyed that the work was both easy and fun. By the time a college recruiting event came along and she was introduced to Davenport, her heart was already set on a career in tax accounting.

When it comes to her career and what Amy enjoys most, it comes down to the constant challenges and consistent answers that many tax and accounting professionals enjoy. She says, “you always know you have the right answer when everything ties out at the end.”

As we continue to work our way through the busiest tax time of the year, Amy is here to answer any questions you may have along the way! Contact her through the button below.
