Company Description

No Hourly Billing
Baker Holtz is unique – we don’t track and bill the time spent serving our clients. Through constant communication with our clients, we work to discover their objectives and discuss the value of our services with them. This mindset allows our associates to eliminate the stress that comes with timesheets and focus instead on meeting the needs of our clients.

Continual Professional Development
Our Associate Development Program aligns your personal goals with the firm’s strategic plan. Associates at Baker Holtz have opportunities for Continuing Professional Education that allows our firm to stay on the leading edge of technical expertise.

Very Low Associate-To-Partner Ratio
Associates have daily contact with senior associates and partners. These relationships allow for continual mentoring and feedback as your skills and career develop.

Job Opportunities

1. Tax & Accounting Intern

The Intern will work in the areas of accounting and tax.  The Intern would typically work with a Senior or Manager. Learn more about this position and how to apply on our handshake page here:

2. Staff Associate

The right team-member will have 1-3 years’ experience in public accounting, along with the following skills and experience:

• CPA or actively pursuing completion of CPA licensing
• Preparation of financial statements with disclosures
• Preparation of individual and corporate tax returns
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to work independently, set clear goals and meet deadlines
• Motivated to establish strong relationships with existing and potential clients
• Involvement in networking and business development activities
• Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a major in accounting and 150 credits

3. New Graduate Staff Associate

The Associate will work in the areas of accounting and tax. They will prepare both financial statements and individual and corporate tax returns and will have the opportunity to work directly with clients. The Associate would typically work one on one with a Senior or Manager. Excellent oral and written communication skills a must!

Education Level: Recent Graduate, seeking certification in public accounting, 150 Credit Hours completed
Position Available: January 2021

4. Marketing Director

Baker Holtz, an award-winning CPA firm in Downtown Grand Rapids, is adding a highly motivated, experienced marketing director to our close-knit, collaborative team. Baker Holtz is unique – we don’t track and bill time spent serving our clients. Through constant communication with our clients, we work to discover their objectives and discuss the value of our services with them. The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for creating and maintaining a value-driven experience both inside and outside the office.

Requirements:

• Part-time 24 hours per week
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Experience with MS Office and WordPress is a must
• A demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize and meet defined goals under tight deadlines
• A passion for providing outstanding client service
• Positive attitude along with a willingness to learn
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a professional office environment

Marketing Director Responsibilities:

• Manage the firm website content and presentation
• Occasional outsourcing to develop client websites
• Produce a marketing strategic plan
• Market planning for specific client industries and Firm services
• Manage all social media platforms and posted content
• Assist in planning and organizing community involvement activities
• Maintain the database for client communication
• Assist with blog content
