Here at Baker Holtz, we have many staff members. From accounting professionals to our tax wizards, to our admin team and management, we all come from different professional backgrounds. Each skill set contributing to the well-rounded team we are today. Char Kraus, our one and only bookkeeper, is another essential kog in the Baker Holtz machine!
Char was born and raised in West Michigan. She loves the lake and all the summer fun and activities that come with it; kayaking, boating, and swimming to name a few. When it comes to the staying in Michigan, family was the main deciding factor for her. Although her family is spread out around the world, maintaining those strong ties has always been key. You can find her family in Mississippi, Nevada, Colorado, California, and all the way over in Japan. Despite the distances, they find a way to stay in touch as often as possible. Even today, family is her biggest passion (outside of her job here, of course!)
When Char was growing up she thought she would pursue a career in education. However, that quickly changed as she entered her first bookkeeping course in high school. Unlike many of our tax professionals at Baker Holtz, Char never even considered a career in tax. Instead of working with the IRS, Char realized immediately she would rather work with people.
As our bookkeeper, Char has a very unique job here with us at Baker Holtz. Bookkeeping requires involvement in a business’s day to day tasks. Since she works much closer with the inner workings of a company rather than strictly their tax related financials, she is able to build strong relationships with each client she works with. She gets to know the client and their business from a day-to-day perspective, helping them realize their goals and ultimately reach them.
Even after 33 years working in bookkeeping, Char continues to enjoy the balance that each new problem offers at the end of the day and the ability to assist each client reach their goals. Char has known Baker Holtz since 1998 and worked with us for the past 3 years. She enjoys Baker Holtz because of our people and our culture.
